William Wordsworth explains in his peom "The World Is To Much With Us" that we as human beings are becoming "out of tune" with the earth. Ideas such as nature, the sea, and howling winds have most been forgotten by modern day people who have engulfed their lives in their own existance. We must not forget that there are things in life far larger then ourselves which must be appreciated.

This is a perfect Sarah poem, it talks about how terrible the world is and I love it. Its pretty dark and depressing how much joy I get from this but I love critiquing and critisizing. William Wordsworth says here that people and nature no longer coexist, we are too preoccupied with "getting and spending" to pay attention to the little things nature provides for our joy and entertainment. I love watching the sky turn a various array of colors before the sun finally disappears beneath the horizon and I love watching grass and trees and flowers dance about in the wind. Instead, others simply put it on display to somehow make them appear the better for having it or noticing it. Honestly, I think it would be better to revert to the old pagan creeds. The religion was created to appreciate everything about nature, to be a part of nature everyday and thank it for the many gifts it provides to sustain life. It would definitely be good idea, at least to me, to get rid of many of our current doctrines and replace them with those of the outworn pagan practice.
I somewhat agree with this poem. Society today is so advanced that we have so much more to do than to stop every once in a while to enjoy nature and the outside world. We're all too busy with computers, televisions, jobs, materialistic things, and other people. If you just look around everyone everywhere is in a hurry. It's kind of sad when you think about it. It's like the saying that you should take the time to smell the flowers. I admit I do get wrapped up in everything every so often but I love going to the park just walking around, laying in the grass, and looking at the stars. There are still people who appreciate and notice nature, just not as often as we should.
this poem was written in the nineteenth, yet it applies so much to todays society. Wordsworth explains his ideas that people take nature for granted and have made ourselves the center of the world. His good use of a few adjectives give you a sense of imagery of nature, water, the sea, and the howling winds. He longs for a time when people where more in touch with nature, like in the pagan religions (Greek, native american) He explains his premonitions that the only thing that will change this destruction is a huge revolt from nature, using greek gods triton and proteus to symbolize washing away the bad of the world
I liked the message of this poem. I thought that William Wordsworth is trying to tell us that we, as human beings, don't appreciate nature and are completely out of tune with it. The title alone is self explanatory. "The World is Too Much With Us," says it all because the world is just fine by itself but when you throw human beings into the mix, you see the disrespect of nature.
"The world is too much with us" by William Wordsworth, is sort of like a wake up call. Wordsworth is telling us that we are beginning to worry too much about material things and power. He's telling us that we are forgetting about the world around us. About nature, natural things of life. We have begun to forget about the true things in life. We have forgotten about nature and the things that give us beauty in the world. William Wordsworth is trying to tell us this in his poem. I really like this poem because of the "wake-up call" it sends in the message. It makes me realize that, yes I need to step outside and just experience nature more. Because that's life.
In the poem "The world is too much with us", Wordsworth's words and beliefs are profound. He believes that the world is too absorbed in material things. The material world always tries to get you to be consumed with what's cool and in-style. We get so consumed with ourselves and forget finer things, like nature. "We are out of tune" with nature and do not appreciate the beautiful sea or the howling wings that "are upgathered now like sleeping flowers".
This is why I tell you Don't worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky that don't sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you worth more then they? Can any of you ass a single cubit to his height by worrying? And why do you worry about clothes? Learn how the wildflowers of the field grow they don't labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you that not even Soloman in all his splendor was adorned like one of these! If that's how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won't He do much more for you you of little faith? Do don't worry, saying, What will we eat? or What will we drink? or What will we wear? For the idolaters eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. Therefore don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:25-34
im William Wordsworth's poem "The World is To Much With Us" he makes us realize that in todays world we dont really take the time to stop and enjoy nature. Even though it was written way back in the 19th century it is still relevant today. The poem talks about how the world is too much about material things. I really enjoyed reading this poem. It was one of my favorite that we read.
what does it mean: "the world is too much withus?" It suggests that we are too much for the world. this alines with the thinking of the day. that our overpoulation and over- industrialisation is bringing the world to the brink. but not over the brink; this point is reinforced by the title. we are not too much for the world: we will not destroy the world; the world is too much with us and it must destroy us to continue to thrive. this is what this poem suggests, that only far after we are gone will the planet be ballenced.
